The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote international cooperation in education development by improving technical training skills.
The MoU involved DIT and the US-based William Marsh Rice University. The cooperation concerns biomedical engineering, international health and development and the medical profession.
The institutions are also expected to collaborate in technical training, research and consultancy with specific reference to visits and informal exchanges.
They also agreed to cooperate in offering postgraduate education and training, organize joint conferences, symposia, or other scientific meetings on subjects of mutual interests and exchange academic information and materials.
It was further noted that both parties agreed to make available suitable facilities and personnel when required and to mutually agree on terms of fee, remuneration, insurance and any other incidentals thereto for the purposes of implementing the objectives of the collaboration.
DIT also signed a MoU with Ensol (Tanzania) Limited, a private company dealing with solar energy, where the company agreed to offer limited placements and access to its projects and sites, study visits, short-term fields or practical training and internships to students and members of staff.
Another MoU was between the Institute and Tanzania Welders and Fitters Union (TAWEFU).
