The fourth University of Dar es Salaam Research Week was recently held at the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) main campus in the city, where scholars and the general public attended.
DUCE’s Coordinator of the Post Graduate and Research, Dr. Edwin Babeiya, said the event was a platform for various researchers to exhibit different research findings which have direct and positive impacts in their fields and the society.
“As you can see, researchers from different faculties are here busy explaining to the spectators various findings they have made from their researchers, which are good for the entire institution and the community at large,” he further said.
Dr. Babeiya pointed out that through the exhibitions, it would be easy for the scholars and institutions to fully utilize the available resources at their disposals, which have not been trapped to the maximum.
He further said apart from enhancing competitions among the researchers, the event also helped to popularise the institution and School in particular for it was opened to the public and not necessarily students.
Three departments which showcased their research findings included the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
During the occasion, Paskali Simon, a Bachelor of Science with Education, Physics and Chemistry third-year student said the event helped them as it complimented the current Administrations policy of embracing industrialization.
This year’s research exhibition theme is ‘Advancing Research and Innovation for Sustainable Utilisation of National Resources.’
