All eyes now fixed on Tanzania safari channel

Tourism is one of the world’s fastest-growing destinations and a major source of foreign exchange and employment generation for many African countries, ostensibly for those few that have been bestowed with a variety of fascinating tourism destinations, Tanzania being one of them.

Tanzania, the Land of Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar, boasts of breathtaking tourism destinations.

These range from the beautiful Indian Ocean and Lakes Victoria, Tanganyika and Nyasa beaches, well-preserved conservation area, including Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area; breathtaking landscapes and beautiful flora and fauna. The country prides itself with Serengeti National Park, a world-famous game park famous for its tree-climbing lions, and the famous annual wildebeest migration, a truly fantastic scenario one should never miss.

During dry spells, thousands of wildebeests congregate ready to commence their long journey, moving from Serengeti in Tanzania towards Maasai Mara in Kenya, crossing Mara River, in search of pasture and adequate water, along with zebras and gazelles.

During this period, the Serengeti records a big number of both local and international tourists, boosting visitor numbers in the Northern Safari Circuit.

The presence of large mammals, like giraffes, elephants, hippopotamus, buffalos, common elands, the rare kudu, plains zebras, rhinoceros and the big cats, which include lion, leopard and cheetah has also turned Tanzania into a tourism hub in the world.

As we all know, Tanzania is ranked second in the world after Brazil in tourism attractions in the world today.

Moreover, unique mammals like hyena, honey badger, giant pangolin, warthog, African civet, and chimpanzee, can be encounter in most of Tanzania protected areas.

This is also an added value to tourism industry, the Gombe Stream National Park being the only park in Africa to inhabit large groups of Chimpanzee thus pulling the attention of International tourists globally, you cannot also miss watching the variety of brightly-colored unique birds almost seen in every game park visited in Tanzania, for the case of those bird lovers, Tanzania is the best destination and a safe home to explore.

The list of tourism destinations in the country is endless, is for this reason Tanzania Safari Channel has to go an extra mile, to discover the hidden attractions awaiting discovery and let the world know that Tanzania is a wonderful destination to visit, bearing in mind Tourism is regarded as one of the most remarkable economic and social phenomena of the past century, in accordance to the data available at the United Nations’ organisation.

Now that the government has launched an independent safari channel, the hotel industry should adhere to quality services, by making sure facilities and services provided by these hotels and human resources are up to standard.

My advice to the government; I think this the right time to classify hotels according to facilities and services provided, although I’m not sure, whether star rating has been taking place and for how long has this happened.

Classifying hotels can be a wake-up call for those dragging behind. Surely this will bring a positive impact on tourism and the hotel industry in the country. As we all know, the tourism and hotel industry depends on each other.

For instance, when tourists visit a certain tourism destination, they need a place to stay, something to eat, something to drink and professional personnel to attend them.

This is where the hotel comes in. Now the question is; will the hotel industry adhere to quality delivery of services based on standards and move on with the new speed of Tanzania’s independent safari channel?
